The International Labour Organization's Core Labor Standards

A tripartite organization, the International Labour Organization (ILO) allows representatives of both employers and workers to participate in virtually all decision making on an equal footing with governments. As a standard-setting organization, ILO adopts and supervises the application of international labor standards and provides related technical assistance.

Core Labor Standards

ADB encounters core labor standards (CLS) in its operations as most of the projects it finances involve some type of employment or labor contracting. It supports CLS through four sets of interrelated, official documents and guidelines: (i) social protection; (ii) safeguards; (iii) social analysis of projects; and (iv) procurement.
