Ye Zheng

​​​​​​​Ye is a fourth-year Civil Engineering student and the founder of the McGill Chapter of Student Energy at McGill University. As a future engineer, she aspires to become a global thinker and leader in sustainable development. Ye has been actively involved in research projects, clubs, start-ups that are related to sustainable development. In China, Ye co-founded a social enterprise called PDT Food Depot that is focused on finding ways to utilize surplus food, and is helping a start-up called LOHAS to promote composting projects of kitchen waste in cities.

Mohsen Gul

Dr. Mohsen Gul is the senior technical advisor for youth-led climate innovation in Atoll nations in the Pacific region at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He has previously served as the climate change youth specialist at ADB. Additionally, he has led climate research strands at British Council as COP26 Research Specialist and authored UN Environment's flagship GEO-6 for youth report. His doctoral research focused on mainstreaming young people in environmental governance regimes in the Asia Pacific region.

Lara Jean Salaysay

Lara is a professional teacher who specializes in education for sustainable development particularly climate change education. Over the past 6 years, she supported learners and teachers for their meaningful engagement in sustainable development and climate action by serving as a private high school teacher and as a Climate Change Program Manager at the Philippine Department of Education’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service. Lara commits herself to a sustainable lifestyle and assisting young people to take their space in climate action.

Youth for Climate Action: How young people are influencing climate policy and resilience in the region

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Young people have taken to the streets ringing the alarm about the impacts of the climate change emergency. While the protests showcase youth’s frustration in current socio-political systems of managing the climate emergency, they are increasingly also engaging in climate policy and building community resilience.

Masyita Crystallin

Masyita Crystallin is currently serving as a Special Advisor to the Minister of the Finance Republic of Indonesia on Macroeconomic and Fiscal Policy, with diverse experience prior to joining the Finance Ministry. She is the Sherpa for the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action where the Indonesia’s Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati serves as co-chair together with Finance Minister of Finland and Indonesia Investment Authority’s spokesperson. At University of Indonesia, she serves as a Senior Researcher at the Demographic Institute.

Andini Effendi

Andini Effendi is an Independent journalist & a documentarian. She holds a Master's degree in Global Affairs at New York University, concentrating in peacemaking and peacebuilding. Ms. Effendi won Best Current Affairs Presenter at the Asian Television Awards 2019 and 2020. She is also the recipient of the Elizabeth O’Neil journalism award from the Australian government.
