Recognizing the risks associated with the challenge of Asia and the Pacific's rising urban population, the Future Cities Program (FCP) is a new approach that pilots how Asian Development Bank (ADB) can better engage with cities, broaden the operational pipeline, and have more effective results. Lessons learned from the FCP can also be applied in various projects within ADB.

ADB Senior Urban Development Specialist Andrew McIntyre leads the Future Cities Program, a new approach that pilots how ADB can better engage with cities, broaden the operational pipeline, and have more effective results. In this Insight Thursday session, he shared lessons learned from establishing the program, how they can and are being applied across ADB, and how this novel approach is making a difference in ADB’s work.

ADB Transport Forum 2016

Sustainable Transport for All is the world’s new ambition for transport, as reflected in the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. Asia and the Pacific will be pivotal in mainstreaming sustainable transport. The region is home to majority of the world’s population and has the largest challenges in terms of poverty, pollution, and climate change. Providing sustainable transport for all will be essential for tackling each of these urgent issues.

Knowledge and Power: Lessons from ADB Energy Projects

With Asia set to surpass the rest of the world’s energy consumption before 2035, project implementers and stakeholders need to understand the development and needs of the region’s energy sector to meet its challenges.

ADB has provided over $28 billion in loans and grants for energy-related projects from 2008 to 2014 to its developing member countries (DMCs), as well as added value through a wealth of knowledge and suitable practices.

Tax Evasion: Investigation and Compliance Strategies Workshop

This Workshop on Tax Evasion: Investigation and Compliance Strategies aimed to support participant countries in designing or reviewing their policies and strategies for tackling tax evasion through investigation and compliance work programs. The learning event enabled the participants to share approaches and experiences in tackling international tax evasion, focus on best practices from a range of tax administrations, and develop plans for tackling the specific challenges their countries face.

Transport for Green Cities

This presentation analyzes the causal relationship between transport and the other sectors. It examines the transport trends in Asia and the Pacific, and also suggests a number of strategies for greening transport. ADB’s transport transformation and green city projects are discussed.
