9th Conference of the Asia Pacific Public Electronic Procurement Network

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized the 9th Annual Conference of the Asia Pacific Public Electronic Procurement Network (APPeN) last 18–20 October 2023 in Tbilisi, Georgia. This year focused on digital transformation of public procurement for transparency, support of SDGs and economic empowerment. Emerging issues such as the use of artificial intelligence in procurement planning, tender procedures, evaluation, negotiations, and contract management were explored.

Philippines: Wetland Ecosystem Services Workshop

This RFI Ecosystem Services Training Workshop for the Philippines was held at ADB Headquarters in Manila and included a field visit to Balanga Nature and Wetland Park in Bataan Province. The Balanga wetlands are a critical site for migratory birds along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and crucial to the Province's fisheries, tourism, and other economic sectors.

Asia Clean Energy Forum 2023

ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m

Biomass project in India signed

On 23 March, the Biomass Energy Project was signed between ADB and SAEL Industries Limited for the construction of five 149-megawatt biomass power plants in the districts of Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, and Sikar in the state of Rajasthan, India. The plants will use agricultural residue as feedstock and should help in the country’s bid for reducing its emissions as well as diversify its energy mix.

This handbook provides guidance for the economic analysis of energy sector investment projects supported by the Asian Development Bank. It provides practical advice on preparing the economic analysis document and explains, in detail, quantification and valuation of costs and benefits of typical energy sector projects.
