Davao Bus Driver Training and Technology Study – Pilot Preparation and Implementation Support: Training Framework

The Training Framework of the Davao Bus Driving Training and Technology Study – Pilot Preparation and Implementation Support project is a guiding document for the development of the bus driver training program in Davao City, Philippines. This framework is the culmination of a nearly two-year-long study that sought to understand the needs and experiences of jeepney drivers, government stakeholders, and the commuting public in Davao and what innovative training technologies could raise drivers' skills and achieve this at scale. This is to support the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project that is led by the city government and financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). 

This Training Framework serves as the foundation for setting up the bus driver training as it presents the learning journey for new bus drivers, those with different experiences, and those who may need re-certification. It also describes the core training themes and crosscutting themes that inform the proposed modules for the training program. Some of the core training themes include functionalities and skills, accessibility, and safety and core competencies. Through this framework, the city can aspire for its desired standard and quality public transport service.

The Davao Bus Driving Training and Technology Study is a project of the ASEAN Australia Smart Cities Trust Fund, which is financed by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, managed by ADB, and implemented by Ramboll.
