ADB Virtual Business Opportunities Seminar Series: Climate Change, Disaster Risk Management and Procurement

07 October 2021

The Business Opportunities Seminars (BOS) are regular events organized by ADB's Procurement, Portfolio, and Financial Management Department for its consultant and contractor community to share news and updates on how to access to ADB opportunities and its procurement framework. Since the pandemic started, ADB is holding virtually the BOS with the support of ADB speakers. These events are traditionally organized at the request of constituencies partners. This year, in order to better support the companies and consultants to access ADB opportunities, PPFD started virtual ADB-initiated BOS. The first event was held on 3 June 2021 on ADB Consultant Management System (CMS) and attended by around 400 participants.

PPFD and the Climate Change team propose to hold the next ADB-initiated BOS on the ADB procurement framework and climate change actions in ADB. The event will be open to all interested participants, will showcase ADB's response to different climate change challenges in Asia and will help the consultant and contractor community to better understand how they could participate in these activities.

Objectives

During the seminar, participants had the opportunity to:

  • meet virtually with ADB staff in the climate change and disaster risk management thematic group, procurement, consulting, project management, and related operations as well as sector specialists;
  • hear procurement methods and case studies from the climate change and disaster risk management thematic group; and
  • discover what business opportunities are available for climate change, and where.

At the end of the seminar, participants will have had:

  • discovered the climate change challenges in the Asia Pacific region;
  • a look at ADB response and climate change strategy and climate finance objectives;
  • a look into disaster risk management program including disaster risk finance; and
  • received first-hand information on business opportunities and procurement methods at ADB related to climate change and disaster risk management.
