This presentation discussed how ADB piloted a unique approach for sustainable rural electrification: training 35 women for a six-month training program to be rural electricians that install and service solar photovoltaic panels and batteries, wiring and auxiliary systems. The women returned to their villages as “barefoot engineers.”
