World Environment Day is an annual event organized by UN Environment on 5 June and celebrated by ADB's Environment Thematic Group.  This year's theme, 'Beat Air Pollution", is aligned with the operational priorities of ADB’s Strategy 2030 including those aimed at making cities more livable and providing better health for all.  In order to address air pollution integrated approaches from the urban, transport, energy and health sectors are needed.  

Scaling up actions to address Asia's air pollution challenges will need holistic and integrated solutions to address air quality management at national and city level. This panel discussion sought to discuss what additional actions can ADB do to work with its developing member countries (DMCs) to address air pollution. The panel, composed of ADB's Sector Group Chiefs from the Energy, Transport, and Urban Development sectors, and a representative from Clean Air Asia, discussed how to scale up its current approaches and solutions to air pollution across the region. The session also showcased what ADB is already doing to support multi-sectoral investments in air quality management in East Asia.
