Smart Water Management: A Case in Rajasthan, India

Since year 2000, ADB has supported Rajasthan with US$1 billion in loans for projects on improving urban services, including water supply, which benefitted about 10 million residents of various cities in the state. These projects also focus on policy reforms, institutional and governance improvement in the state, and other investments in the urban sector such as nonrevenue water reduction, 24x7 water supply, and smart water management. Important lessons from these three projects may be relevant and could be applied to urban projects in other ADB's developing member countries.
