Doing Business with ADB in 2026: Procurement Updates, Opportunities, and Best Practices
9 July 2026

At the beginning of 2026, ADB implemented important procurement reforms, replacing the traditional lowest evaluated bid strategy with a more holistic system assessment focused on quality, technical capability, sustainability, and innovation. As a result, all internationally advertised contracts financed by the bank for works, non-consulting services, and goods will now be evaluated using the merit point criteria (MPC). This weighted scoring approach ensures that contracts are awarded to bidders capable of delivering sustainable results and long-term development impact.

The recent ADB’s Strategy 2030 Midterm Review reaffirms the bank’s strategic focus on five of the region’s most pressing development issues: climate action, private sector development, regional cooperation and public goods, digital transformation, and resilience and empowerment. This enhanced focus will guide the allocation of staff and resources for the greatest impact in the years to come.

DevelopmentAid, in collaboration with ADB, hosted a webinar on “Doing Business with ADB in 2026: Procurement Updates, Opportunities, and Best Practices,” on Thursday, 9 July, at 4:00 p.m. (Brussels) / 10:00 a.m. (Washington, DC) with consulting firms, NGOs, suppliers, contractors, and individual consultants.
