ADB-Japan Funds Week: Towards a Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific
27 June to 1 July 2022

With the theme, Beyond the Pandemic: Forging Ahead with the Enhanced Japan Funds, the first ADB-Japan Funds Week was held from 27 June to 1 July 2022. This week-long online event was ADB’s way of showing appreciation to the Government of Japan for its continued generous support for Japan Funds in the past two decades and highlighting JFPR's accomplishments and support to ADB operations.

Session 1: Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific (JFPR) Anniversary Event

28 June 2022

The JFPR Anniversary Event celebrated its achievements, impacts, and contribution to developing member countries and ADB operations for the past two decades, especially on crisis response, and recognized outstanding JFPR projects and champions. This event gave a glimpse of the upcoming JFPR History Book.

Session 2: Policy Dialogue between ADB and Japan's Ministry of Finance Management on New JFPR Directions

28 June 2022

This session focused on the directions under the new JFPR priorities. A policy dialogue was held between ADB and the Japan Ministry of Finance, considering new global challenges, taking into account ADB’s expertise and experience.

Session 3: ADB-Japan Scholarship Program Symposium, Knowledge for Development

29 June 2022

With ADB Institute, invited distinguished speakers discussed challenges and the state-of-the-art in JFPR’s new priority areas. Further, the JFPR priority areas were presented to the 25 Designated Institutions of the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program to better align their fields of study and course offerings and sensitize scholars and alumni on developing member countries’ development and capacity needs.

Session 4: Technical Session between Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department (SDCC) and Regional Departments on the New JFPR Priority Areas

30 June 2022

Picking up from Session 2’s ADB-Japan Ministry of Finance dialogue, the session featured a discussion among sector and thematic group chiefs, the regional departments, and SDPF on the operationalization, coordination mechanisms, pipeline development, and quality assurance under the new JFPR direction.

Session 5: Meet the Japan Funds Team

1 July 2022

An online consultation opportunity for clients and other stakeholders which discussed, raised questions, and sought guidance from the Japan Funds Team members on various aspects of the Japan Trust Funds.

Virtual Exhibit on JFPR and other Japan Trust Funds

27 June to 1 July 2022

This weeklong virtual exhibit commemorated JFPR’s two decades of poverty reduction work. It highlighted the achievements and impact on the lives of JFPR beneficiaries and was a way to show appreciation to the Government of Japan for its generous contribution to JFPR and other Japan Trust Funds.
