Asia has made substantial progress in improving educational attainment. Nevertheless, there remain significant shortfalls in the quantity and quality of education. To raise quality will require commitment to making evidence based policy decisions and accountability, financial efficiency that delivers better skill outcomes per dollar of public investment, educational delivery and access, and generating conditions for learning on-the-job.

Aniruddha Vinaykumar Patil

As the Head of the Social Sectors Team, Private Sector Operations at the Asian Development Bank, Aniruddha Patil is responsible for ADB’s direct lending to and investments in private healthcare and education companies in Asia and the Pacific. Prior to joining ADB, Aniruddha worked for Macquarie Capital in Singapore, The Boston Consulting Group in Munich and the World Bank in New Delhi.

Online Learning: What's New and What Works

This overview seminar, as part of Asian Development Bank's Know-How Learning Series, kicked-off the Knowledge Sharing and Services Center’s initiative to put in place a strategy to support the online learning goals of ADB’s Sector and Thematic Groups, as well as other communities interested in improving their capacity development work. Phillip Ash, an online learning specialist and advocate, led the discussion, which focused on current and best practices, trends, and opportunities offered by online learning.

Knowledge Partnership for Clean Energy: Workout on the Indonesia Center of Excellence

This knowledge workout to support the establishment and operationalization of the Indonesia Center of Excellence for Clean Energy served as the first pilot test case of ADB’s “knowledge department” in applying the integrated knowledge partnership building strategy on operational needs that will produce next generation investments and finance using ADB’s “Finance ++” and “One ADB” approaches. ADB's knowledge department comprises of the Energy Sector Group, Knowledge Sharing and Services Center, South East Energy Division, and the Private Sector Operations Department.

Insight Thursday is a weekly, 30-minute seminar open to all ADB staff. Stimulating discussions are par for the course. The Asian Institute of Technology, with its core competency and extensive research work in the field of energy, aims to participate in and contribute to Indonesia’s indigenous energy development process.
