Keeping an Eye on Asia

Water is a critical part in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The Asian Water Development Outlook is essentially a communication tool for ADB’s developing member countries, but also internally for the Bank and for other financiers from the Asia and Pacific region.

This short video highlights key moments on Insight Thursday, ADB’s in-house knowledge sharing series.

Asia Leadership Program 2016

High-level policy makers and officials exchanged ideas with ADB counterparts at the Asia Leadership Program 2016.

The fourth annual program highlighted co-learning between Asian Development Bank staff and 23 participants, three of which are Executive-Level Policy Makers while the other 20 are Senior-Level Management officials. The program focused on the following sectors and areas:

Abhishek Jain

Abhishek built and leads The Council’s practices on energy access, rural livelihoods, and sustainable food systems. He is directing 'Powering Livelihoods', a $3 million initiative to transform India's rural economy with clean energy solutions. He co-conceptualized and leads CEEW’s flagship research effort, Access to Clean Cooking Energy and Electricity – Survey of States (ACCESS), the largest panel survey on multidimensional energy access in India.

Integrated Approach to Sustainable Infrastructure Provision/ Financing

Armenia, a small landlocked country in the Caucasus, requested its development partners for assistance in maintaining its extensive yet underfunded road and water network. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is the only partner that responded to this call.

The challenge was to institutionalize coordination and beef up accountability mechanisms, not only between Armenian government agencies but also with ADB teams and other development partners. As a response, ADB introduced an integrated approach to ensure the sustainability of infrastructure solutions to be rolled out.
