OECD-ADBI Roundtable on Insurance and Retirement Saving in Asia

The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound implications for the availability and affordability of insurance coverage across various lines of business and the adequacy of retirement savings. At the same time, insurance and retirement savings markets continue to be affected by catastrophe risks, digitalization, employers’ responsibility and involvement, and risk management for long-term care and health insurance amid the region’s aging populations.

Strengthening the Enabling Environment for Disaster Risk Financing

Disaster risks pose a serious threat to the sustainability of many countries in the Asia-Pacific. Innovative approaches and solutions to disaster risk financing are urgently needed.

The Regional Forum on Strengthening the Enabling Environment for Disaster Risk Financing: Options for Enhancing Financial Resilience will provide a venue for cross-country learning and dialogue on strengthening technical knowledge on disaster risk financing (DRF). It will also enable participants to forge regional partnerships to generate knowledge on good DRF practices.

Regional Workshop for Asian Insurance Supervisors

The Regional Workshop for Asian Insurance Supervisors aimed to strengthen the capacity of countries to manage crisis, counter fraud, and conduct anti-money laundering activities. It provided a comprehensive discussion of the Insurance Core Principles (ICP), the globally accepted framework that guides the insurance industry, and the ways it can be concretly applied to secure a financially sound insurance sector.
