Challenges, Lessons, and Innovations for Strengthening Integrated Flood Risk Management

This webinar sought to engage with flood managers, decision-makers, technical specialists, and ADB program professionals for an exchange of ideas and experiences directed toward strengthening the practice of flood management across Asia.

The webinars were conducted in a series of five 90-minute sessions held over 5 weeks starting from 09 March 2022.

Lorena Ramirez

Lorena is the project coordinator for ADB's project on risk financing solutions and transfer mechanisms to promote climate resilience for ecosystems (Output 4 of TA 6742-REG Building Coastal Resilience through Nature Based and Integrated Solutions in Asia and the Pacific). She was also the project manager of the ADB’s Knowledge Support and Technical Assistance Project on Strengthening Integrated Flood Risk Management (TA 9634-REG), in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Viet Nam.

Flood Risk from Dams - TA 9634 Work with IWUMD in Myanmar

This presentation discussed the background and work that has been carried out under the TA 9634 with Myanmar's Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department (IWUMD), a governmental organization under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI). The project is supporting the hydrological and hydraulic reassessment of a number of spillways in Myanmar.

IFRM Financing

This presentation guided participants on the various financing issues related to IFRM from the perspective of ADB's developing member countries, as well as multilateral development banks. It also provided some guidance when exploring various IFRM financing models.
