Meet Lucy: Do New Ideas in Governance Work in Practice?

Organized by ADB's Governance Thematic Group in cooperation with the OECD-DAC Network on Governance and the German International Cooperation (GIZ)'s Sector Network Governance Asia, this learning event on Meet Lucy: New Ideas in Governance – Do They Work in Practice? enabled participants to assess the practical relevance of alternative approaches to governance and institutional change summarized in OECD's recent Governance Practitioners' Notebook.

Effective Civil Society Organization Engagement in the Pacific for Better Development Results

This learning event aimed to build the capacity of focal persons in civil society organizations (CSOs) and select project officers in the Pacific Department (PARD) of ADB in terms of collaborating in designing and implementing ADB projects. The purpose is to develop mechanisms for engaging CSOs to take part in project activities, which includes monitoring project outputs. The event also served as a venue for PARD staff and development coordinators to share good practice examples in working with CSOs, as some of them have been implementing action plans to improve CSO cooperation.

Promoting Good Governance in Irrigation

This document presents a broadened perspective of governance in irrigation. It discusses these three key aspects: (i) lessons learned and opportunities to strengthen institutional, policy, and legal frameworks to improve performance; (ii) changing rural dynamics and the feminization of agriculture; and (iii) the influence of subsidies and price distortions on water productivity.

Undral Gombodorj

Undral is the Director of the Democracy Education Center (DEMO), a Mongolian NGO. She holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Institute of Economics, Prague, Czech Republic. She is a certified trainer, facilitator, mentor, researcher, and author of numerous publications in NGO management, social accountability, governance, and volunteering. 
She is the Chair of the Network of Mongolian Volunteer Organizations and National Representative for IAVE Mongolia. 

Indian Cities in Aspirational Times

GIZ Senior Advisor Aparna Daz presents the work done under the Inclusive Cities Partnership Program (ICCP) on various housing solution options for the urban poor. ICCP is a collaborative effort between the Government of India and GIZ India under a three-year cooperation, which started in November 2014. This video of the learning event was produced by ADB.

The link between operations and policies calls for the creation of a new city governance system that encourages shared responsibility. The Inclusive Cities Partnership Program is introduced to support the national government in exploring housing solutions for the urban poor.
