Digital Economy and Carbon Neutrality

With a gross domestic product share of 38.6% in 2020, the country’s digital economy is considered to play a key role in achieving this carbon neutrality target. This initiative is supportive of ADB’s recent announcement of an increased ambition of $100 billion in climate finance by 2019-2030, as well as UNFCCC COP26's call on scaling up the investments in climate change adaptation and achieving carbon neutrality.

The 2017 Digital Strategies for Development Forum, a collaborative event with ADB and UNESCO, provided a venue for high-impact discussions on ICT for Development and tackled country and sectoral/thematic development strategies towards building a digital economy in Asia and the Pacific. A side event on 5–6 September 2017 included the 14th APT Telecommunications / ICT Development Forum.

Financial Inclusion in the Digital Economy

This learning event, organized by Asian Development Bank (ADB) in collaboration with the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor and ADB Institute, aimed to bring together policy makers, financial sector supervisors and regulators, financial institutions, financial technology companies, academia, as well as financial sector experts to discuss opportunities and challenges in digital finance. Another objective of the event discussions was to identify how multilateral development banks such as ADB can support in this development by financing digital technology and transformation projects.
