ADB Experience and Knowledge Sharing (Focus on Gender, Climate Change, and High-Level Technology)

The Asian Development Bank has stepped up its efforts to introduce innovative approaches and technologies under its policy-based and investment loans as well as technical assistance projects. This session presents some of these innovative projects and highlights lessons learned so that other developing member countries may consider adopting similar approaches and designs for their projects.

Christian Ellermann

Mr. Ellermann has more than 13 years of professional work experience with focus on climate finance. He is ADB’s focal person for the Green Climate Fund and the Climate Investment Funds, and for managing the associated internal trust funds and teams. As part of the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management Division, he leads on the topic of aligning ADB with the Paris Agreement.

Sian Bradley

Sian Bradley is Consultant at EBRD, working on EBRD’s just transition initiative and coordinating the joint work of the MDB Paris Alignment Working Group on Just Transition. She joined EBRD in June 2020, from Chatham House where she is a Senior Research Fellow in the Energy, Environment and Resource department, working with fossil fuel producing countries on the integration of climate risk and the development of transition pathways. She previously worked in the private sector as an ESG advisor and studied International Relations at the London School of Economics (LSE).

Mike Ward

Mike Ward is a sustainability professional with over 25 years’ of experience at the intersection of sustainable development, learning and change. He is currently working as a Senior Evaluation and Sustainability Consultant with the Climate Investment Funds and has conducted in-depth case studies on just transition in South Africa and India. Mike has a Masters in International Environmental Science, a Masters of Business Administration and is currently registered for a PhD with Rhodes University (South Africa).

Russell Bishop

Russell Bishop is a Principal Economist in the Economics, Policy and Governance department at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). He works on policy dialogue, country diagnostics and project assessment to support the implementation of the Bank’s Green Economy Transition strategy, including preparing the Bank’s approach to Just Transition. Prior to joining the EBRD in 2017 he led the low-income country programme of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate as a Senior Research Fellow of the Overseas Development Institute.
