Asia Leadership Program 2013: Senior and Technical Level Sessions

The Asia Leadership Program 2013 focused on the food-energy-water-climate nexus and climate change challenges in the Asia-Pacific.

The first face-to-face program offering was organized in 2013 and held in New Delhi, India. The Asia Leadership Program partnered with The Energy and Resources Institute to deliver the various key topics and learnings on sustainable development and climate change.

The Asia Leadership Program 2013 focused on leadership for sustainability and global sustainable development governance, among other concerns.

Pradeep Tharakan

Mr. Pradeep Tharakan has over 17 years of experience focused on global energy and environmental issues. Mr. Tharakan has worked for the ADB since 2010. His primary expertise is in the origination, financing, and delivery of large-scale clean energy investment programs in the public sector; the fostering of inter-governmental and public-private partnerships for effective development action; and development research.

Asia Clean Energy Forum 2016

The Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) 2016 showcased clean energy innovations in technology, financing, and policy that can help meet the region's climate and energy security challenges. ACEF facilitates knowledge sharing among clean energy practitioners in Asia and highlights innovative approaches to scaling up clean energy initiatives through in-depth and targeted discussions.

Guangdong Energy Efficiency and Environment Improvement Investment Program, Tranche 1: Providing Additional Power Capacity through Energy Savings

Rapidly growing demand has outstripped power generation capacity in Guangdong Province in the People’s Republic of China (PRC), resulting to a host of energy security and environmental concerns. In 2008, the PRC and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) embarked on an energy efficiency program that yielded energy savings and generated additional capacity.

The People’s Republic of China’s Municipal Waste-to-Energy Project: A Model Approach to Financing a State-of-the-Art Technology

In the People’s Republic of China, higher income growth in urban and rural areas resulted in higher demand for energy and generation of more waste. Using the Asian Development Bank (ADB) innovative financing approach, a private company applied the waste-to-energy technology that increases electricity generating capacity without greenhouse gas emissions.

Knowledge Partnership for Clean Energy: Workout on the Indonesia Center of Excellence

This knowledge workout to support the establishment and operationalization of the Indonesia Center of Excellence for Clean Energy served as the first pilot test case of ADB’s “knowledge department” in applying the integrated knowledge partnership building strategy on operational needs that will produce next generation investments and finance using ADB’s “Finance ++” and “One ADB” approaches. ADB's knowledge department comprises of the Energy Sector Group, Knowledge Sharing and Services Center, South East Energy Division, and the Private Sector Operations Department.
