David Hendrickson

David joined ADBI as Communications Specialist at the end of 2018, after nearly seven years at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat in Singapore where he served as senior media manager and deputy communications director. In this capacity, he led media strategy and outreach promoting trade and investment policy collaboration between APEC’s 21 member economies.

Clara Grilo

Dr. Clara Grilo is a researcher at Center for Marine and Environment Studies at the University of Lisbon in Portugal. Her research involves ecological modelling and studying the effects of anthropogenic activities on landscapes and wildlife. Her work focusses on the processes and patterns of underlying species responses towards roads, namely on the effects of road networks on birds and mammals - effects such as behavior, abundance, genetic structure, risk of mortality, and population viability. 

Alexandra Pamela Chiang

Pamela is a Senior Transport Specialist from the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department at ADB. She is an experienced team leader with 20 years of international experience in the development and management of transport projects including urban transit systems, railways, seaports, airports, roads, cross-border transport, and regional connectivity.

Managing and Analyzing Biodiversity Data

When free or open-source data do not exist, the data needs to be collected through other means. The second module covered tools and best practices for rapidly collecting spatial data to inform biodiversity assessment for projects. It discussed the importance of sharing data with project partners and collaborators while also keeping it secure. Historically, sharing large spatial data files, creating static cartography and reports was an intensive and laborious task. Today, we can utilize dynamic dashboards to visualize spatial and tabular data.

Yoonee Jeong

Yoonee Jeong is a Senior Digital Technology Specialist with the Digital Technology for Development Unit at ADB. She is a digital technology public policy professional with nearly 20 years of international experience. Before joining ADB, Yoonee was the Director of Public and Regulatory Affairs with the Telenor Group, a global mobile operator. Previously, Yoonee served as a senior consultant on digital economy policy and capacity building to the World Bank and UN-ESCAP and as the Director of Research and Consulting with TRPC, an advisory firm.

Virtual Conference on Circular Economy in Emerging Markets: Unlocking the Potential for Green Recovery in Developing Asia (Regional Side Event of the World Circular Economy Forum)

The current take-make-waste extractive industrial model has had far-reaching negative implications for the global climate, scarce natural resources, and biodiversity. Revised economic models could help transform consumption and make it more sustainable. In a circular economy, production and consumption encompass sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling materials and products as long as possible, extending product life cycles and keeping materials within the economy wherever possible.
