Risa Zhijia Teng

•Ms. Risa Teng has over 37 years of professional experience, including 24 years with ADB. 
•She joined ADB in May 1996 in Office of Administrative services and later moved to Central Operations Services Office as Portfolio management specialist, promoted to the Senior Consulting Services Specialists. She then moved to Central and West Asia Regional department, where she served in increasingly senior roles, starting from Pakistan Resident Mission and then heading the Portfolio, Results, Safeguards and Gender Unit.

ADB is implementing a new procurement framework that takes a principles-based approach and is less prescriptive. In her welcome remarks, ADB Vice-President for Administration and Corporate Management Deborah Stokes, shares how the new framework promotes quality and value for money. She also tackles ADB’s commitment to integrate digital solutions into its operations, which would require increasing staff resources and focus on digital technologies for development.

ADB, Social Protection, and the SDGs: Emerging Challenges in Asia and the Pacific

ADB Strategy 2030 envisions a prosperous, inclusive, sustainable, and resilient Asia. To realize this vision, developing member-countries (DMC) need to build their capacity to provide adequate social protection. ADB currently supports governments in developing systems and programs that will expand their social protection coverage and help them achieve SDGs.

Teresa Kho

Ms. Teresa Kho is the Director General of the East Asia Department at the Asian Development Bank. The Department is responsible for ADB’s engagement with the People's Republic of China (PRC); Hong Kong, China; Republic of Korea; Mongolia; and Taipei,China. 

Prior to this, she was the Deputy Director General of the East Asia Department (2017–2021), ADB’s Country Director in India (2013– 2016) and Country Director in Bangladesh (2012–2013).
