Belinda Bramley

A passionate environmentalist with an interest in nature-based solutions, Belinda has worked in the not-for-profit sphere for over 20 years, serving as Head of Impact for Nekton Foundation, CFO for Earthwatch Europe and CFO for the Global Canopy Programme. She is a chartered accountant and avid researcher with an adaptable skillset including partnership, systems and programme development.

Belinda is the interim COO at Ethex and will be acting as Westmill Solar’s interim company secretary whilst Sarah Flood is on maternity leave.

Using the Rigs to Reefs Approach to Accelerate Ocean Regeneration

Emily Hazelwood and Amber Sparks, co-founders of Blue Latitudes, a women-owned marine environmental consulting firm, shared how to develop sustainable solutions by reducing the impact of offshore energy assets on marine ecosystems. This included integrating marine habitat creation, coral seeding, and marine renewable energy into the process of rig decommissioning.

All of our civilization’s activities manifest in the ocean. Carbon emitted is absorbed into the sea. This increases acidification and threatens the life at the bottom of our food chain. This session looked at ways that changes in our civilization can reverse the impact of current industrial processes through the application of regenerative industries both on land and in the ocean.
