Advocacy Workshop to Address Gender Based Violence – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Systems Strengthening Program
On 30 October, ADB held an advocacy training session to address gender-based violence (GBV) for health professionals from 32 hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province to support health sector reforms under $100 Million KP Health Systems Strengthening Program. CD Emma Fan highlighted importance of promoting gender equality and protecting women’s rights, and underscored training needs of healthcare professionals to foster a safe and supportive environment for patients. The workshop was aimed at enhancing capacity of healthcare providers in handling GBV cases to ensure gender-sensitive clinical protocols and improving overall service delivery and was a step towards achieving project’s goal of empowering women and ensuring their access to quality healthcare services. Aligned with ADB’s Effective Gender Mainstreaming (EGM) guidelines, the results-based lending project in KP supports modernizing healthcare infrastructure, upgrading medical equipment, and training healthcare providers.
