Wanglin Ma is an associate professor of Applied Economics. His expertise lies in agricultural economics and development economics. Through Wanglin's research, he strive to unravel the strategies and solutions that enhance farm economic performance, augment people's subjective well-being and household welfare, and foster sustainable rural and agricultural development. For example, my work focusing on New Zealand has significantly contributed to understanding different production systems and their impact on dairy farms' economic performance, technical efficiency, and animal health expenditure. His work on developing countries (e.g., China, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Indonesia) has investigated the profound effects of adopting sustainable agricultural practices and membership in agricultural cooperatives on farm productivity and efficiency in these regions, as well as illuminated the transformative impact of information and communication technologies, such as smartphones, on the subjective well-being of rural residents, rural income growth, and non-farm employment.
