Improving Solid Waste Management in the Greater Malé Region

Approximately 774 tons per day of mixed waste is generated in Male’ and is sent to Thilafushi, an industrial island near Male’ with a 30-year-old dumpsite for waste. The geographic distribution of islands and lack of land makes the collection, transport of management of waste quite challenging and costly. Check out how Malé is responding to these issues and challenges through its improved solid waste management efforts.
