This is a recording of the Good Enough Guide to On-Site Sanitation in the Pacific training delivered by the Asian Development Bank at the Water and WASH Futures Conference in Brisbane, Australia in February 2023.

This training, targeted at WASH practitioners, explores the principles underpinning different dry (aerobic) and wet (anaerobic) on-site technology choices for containment and treatment to effectively reduce the overall fecal exposure risks in the differing contexts in the Pacific. The training also covers the principles of on-site treatment options from septage disposal facilities to package plants.

The cost-benefit trade-offs of higher technology options in different climatic, hydrogeological, social, and economic contexts can be better understood by starting with the principles underpinning the simplest technology options first. This can then support the adoption of the most likely sanitary behaviors and technologies to reduce fecal exposure risks in Pacific Island Countries.
