Gillian Brown is an independent consultant with 27 years experience working on gender and social development issues. She is currently the lead consultant of ADB's Future Cities, Future Women project in Georgia, Indonesia, and Myanmar, and also provides technical advice on gender equality and women’s empowerment to a number of programs funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Gillian was Principal Adviser on Gender Equality at Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) between 2010 and 2012.  She joined AusAID after twelve years at the World Bank where she was the senior social development specialist for the East Asia and Pacific Regional department, and managed projects, and a broad range of analytical work on gender and social development.

Gillian holds graduate and post-graduate degrees from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK.
