[VIDEO] Empowering Women Through Climate Action
24 November 2021
Evidence shows that in countries with high levels of gender inequality, there is also a higher vulnerability to the negative impacts of climate change. Climate extremes degrade ecosystems and place heavy burdens on women and girls, limiting their education and income generation opportunities and increasing their exposure to gender-based violence.
This session will focus on innovative approaches to strengthening women's resilience to climate change. Speakers will share experiences from Latin America, Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and Asia and the Pacific. They will also focus on women's leadership at all levels, including the grassroots communities they are working in and how women are leading the fight against climate change in their communities.
