Michael Bennett, Forest Trends senior researcher, outlined some of the major types of innovative approaches for conservation finance globally, and highlighted some of the main trends in the developments of these approaches. In the presentation, Bennett discussed the position of the People’s Republic of China within international trends, as well as what types of instruments would be of most value for the country’s evolving eco-compensation policy framework. He concluded with some final thoughts on the role of the central government versus local governments in engendering innovations in conservation finance.
