In the People’s Republic of China, different types of higher education Institutions serve different roles in university-industry linkages (UIL). As the nature and outcomes of UIL are shaped by local institutional contexts, it is essential to create strategies that are context specific. The key is to align economic incentives with efforts to ensure the success of UIL.
