Knowledge and Power: Lessons from ADB Energy Projects

Power generation in the People’s Republic of China heavily relies on coal. Coal dependency results in severe environmental degradation and aggravates poor air quality in most eastern and central cities, inducing public health hazards. With assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the government initiated a low-cost power plant for carbon capture and storage, potentially reducing carbon emissions up to 90%.
