High-Speed Rails and Knowledge Production: A Global Perspective

This ongoing research aims to develop empirical macro-economic evidence for the effect of high-speed rails (HSRs) on Knowledge Production at an international scale. The objectives are to study associations and test the potential causal relationship between HSR development and the country’s patent productivity. An analysis of 59 countries (including the 15 where HSR is in operation) demonstrates a significant positive association and significant positice treatment effect of HSR development on country’s patent productivity.
