Event: ADB Data Room: ASEAN Australia Smart Cities Trust Fund AASCTF project data sheet: Chonburi/EEC View File The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) is one of Thailand’s most ambitious development zones, positioned to drive national growth under the Thailand 4.0 agenda. Spanning the provinces of Rayong, Chonburi, and Chachoengsao, the corridor is seeing rapid expansion in infrastructure, industry, and population. At the heart of this transformation is the planned EEC New Livable Smart City—envisioned as a model district that integrates digital systems, sustainability principles, and high-quality public services from the outset. To support this early stage of planning, the ASEAN Australia Smart Cities Trust Fund (AASCTF) partnered with the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) through the City Visioning and Strategic Urban Data Platform Assessment project. The project delivered a shared smart city vision and roadmap, alongside an assessment of the ICT and data foundations needed for an integrated urban data platform. Together, these outputs help EECO guide development, coordinate stakeholders, and lay the groundwork for coherent, data-driven decision-making as the new city takes shape. This project data sheet is part of a collection that features 10 cities with direct interventions from AASCTF. Each data sheet provides a summary of the project, detailing challenges, solutions, and early impacts and benefits, as well how the solutions can be sustained long after project completion. The goal is to showcase how AASCTF has collaborated with the city and partners to catalyze people-centric smart solutions, which can hopefully be replicated or scaled in other Asian cities. AASCTF is financed by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, managed by the Asian Development Bank, and implemented by Ramboll.
