The session gives an overview on the Regional Flyway Initiative (RFI), which envisions a network of sustainable wetlands along the EAA Flyway and hosted, managed, and protected by vibrant and resilient communities. This vision shall be realized through the development of viable nature-based solutions (NbS), which are going to be financed through $3 billion worth of investments.

In broad stroke, there had been significant efforts already undertaken—including this capacity development initiative. Meaningful stakeholder engagement is also an ongoing process. Meanwhile, knowledge products had been developed over the past 20 months, specifically, a Data Room for the results of the Phase 1 of the site selection process—which presents key wetland sites in 10 participating DMCs.
