The paper performs a multi-criteria comparative analysis of urban transportation systems in capital cities of selected Small Island Developing States sharing similar socio-economic characteristics. To identify knowledge gaps and guide the design and evaluation of future transport investments the paper examines two capital cities of island states each from the Caribbean, Pacific, and the Indian Ocean.
