Dhaka's piped water supply system was fraught with various challenges. The supply was of poor quality and intermittent and the network was inefficient. Pipes were also leaking and illegal connections were prevalent. An ADB-assisted project, the Water Supply Management for Sustaining the Operational Efficiency in Dhaka, helped the city respond to these issues. It enhanced the capacities of 84 Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Dhaka WASA) officials through training and study visits and rehabilitated the city's water supply network.
