Waste Management and the Circular Economy - Nordic Best Practices

17 November 2020 to 18 November 2020

Organized with the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers

DAY 1:

DAY 2:

The Philippines has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, with rising income and consumption levels overstretching waste management systems. The country is currently the 3rd largest generator of solid waste in Southeast Asia, and among the top plastic polluters globally. It is estimated that almost 20% of the country’s 2.7 million tons of plastic waste generated annually ends up in the ocean. Waste minimization, improved waste recovery and reuse, and pollution control are key to transitioning the Philippines towards a more sustainable economy.

The three Nordic Embassies of Denmark, Norway and Sweden in the Philippines, in partnership with Business Sweden and the Asian Development Bank, with the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers jointly convened a two-part virtual knowledge sharing event to disseminate good practices from Nordic countries on waste management, producer responsibility and circular economy.
