The study, The Technification of Jobs: An LLM-Based Analysis of Digital Skills Demand in Asia–Pacific, provided a large-scale assessment of how digital and artificial intelligence (AI) skills were transforming job markets across seven countries in the region. Using millions of job postings from Indeed and advanced large language model (LLM) techniques, the report identified trends in digital and AI skill requirements across occupations and countries, and quantified the associated wage premia.

The analysis revealed that digital skills had become a key requirement in the labor market, extending well beyond traditional information and communication technology (ICT) roles. Demand had grown fastest in low- and mid-digital occupations, signaling the widespread diffusion of technology across sectors. It also showed that workers with higher digital skills earned a wage premium and that AI-related skills—especially those involving the use of AI tools—had surged following the release of ChatGPT in 2022. These findings set the scene for discussions on the importance of strong digital foundations, continuous reskilling, and education systems that keep pace with rapid technological change.
