Series: Asian Impact: ADB Research in Action Asian Development Policy Lecture - Joel Spicer 11 September 2025 Malnutrition is costing Asia billions of dollars every year, silently eroding national productivity, draining fiscal resources, and locking millions of children and families into intergenerational poverty. According to the World Bank’s “Investment Framework for Nutrition,” investing in nutrition is one of the most cost-effective ways to boost economic growth and human development, with every $1 invested in nutrition yielding up to $23 in economic returns. In this Asian Impact webinar, Nutrition International’s President and CEO, Joel Spicer, delivered a lecture titled “Investing in Nutrition: Unlocking Human Capital and Economic Potential Across Asia.” He also discussed how nutrition-smart financing can unlock Asia’s full potential.
