Regional Operations Services I (OSR1) of the Office of Safeguards (OSFG), in partnership with the Policy and Technical Services (OSPT), organized the Livelihood Restoration Regional Workshop for Central and West Asia. The event took place from 21 to 23 November 2024 at the Hilton Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The workshop provided a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building in the area of livelihood restoration, underscoring ADB's commitment to incorporating livelihood restoration into safeguards management. A total of 43 participants attended, representing implementing and executing agencies, the private sector, and consultancy firms from across the central West Asia and East Asia regions.
The workshop was funded under Technical Assistance 10143: Enhancing Social Safeguards Capacity in the Central and West Asia Region, led by Yukihiro Shibuya. Over 2.5 days, ADB Safeguards Specialists, consultants, and selected representatives from participating developing member countries delivered a series of interactive modules covering all aspects of livelihood restoration activity planning and implementation, from assessment to evaluation.
Participants also shared regional best practices on livelihood restoration activities and exchanged ideas on further improving their initiatives. Participants will apply the knowledge gained through these sessions to enhance project outcomes across the region.
