Seoul has gained much knowledge and experience through trial-and-error that ADB's developing member countries (DMCs) can learn from and build on.

With numerous urban development solutions that act as essential components making Seoul a safe, smart, green and convenient city to live, work and play in, the city went through phases of urban development aligned with economic growth and acted as a catalyst in facilitating the nation’s growth as the capital city. The fact that Seoul is an old historic city that went through rapid modernization process in the last half a century may ring closely with the situations of other cities.
