Blue Skies Jakarta: Dissemination Webinar on Meta Study Insights and Financing Pathways
26 February 2026

Air quality in the Greater Jakarta area remains a significant public health and environmental challenge, with particulate matter (PM) 2.5 levels consistently exceeding national and WHO standards. Driven by a combination of transport emissions, industrial activities, coal-fired power plants on the city’s periphery, and household energy use, pollution episodes frequently worsen during dry-season temperature inversions. These conditions contribute to respiratory and cardiovascular health risks, reduced productivity, and broader economic costs, underscoring the urgent need for coordinated, multi-sectoral interventions across the Greater Jakarta area. This event is a dissemination event for the meta-study “Blue Skies Jakarta: Pathways for Integrated Air Quality Improvement,” resulting from collaboration between Asian Development Bank (ADB), Cities and Local Government Institute (CLGI), and the Indonesian President Executive Office.

This session will present key findings from a comprehensive review of major studies and initiatives on air quality in Greater Jakarta, highlighting gaps, priority actions, and opportunities for integrated policy and investment approaches. The event aims to bring together government agencies, development partners, and relevant stakeholders to discuss actionable pathways for improving Greater Jakarta’s air quality and explore potential areas for collaboration.
