Director of Environment, Ministry of National Development Planning/ National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Profile / Bio Nizhar Marizi is the Director of Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) in Indonesia. He has extensive experience in environmental and energy issues and promotes green growth and renewable energy. Nizhar holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kitakyushu, an M.Sc. in Environmental Science from the University of Indonesia, and a B.Eng in Urban and Regional Planning from the Institute of Technology Bandung. His work includes developing sustainability measurement tools and contributing to the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to support member states in transitioning to green growth models. Nizhar Marizi has been instrumental in Indonesia's journey towards a green economy, including the development of a National Circular Economy Roadmap and Action Plan, food loss and waste strategies, and waste-to-energy models. He also focuses on industrial decarbonization and has been involved in the Bappenas Green Academy and youth-led initiatives. Nizhar Marizi's leadership and expertise have been recognized with the award for the best director of environmental affairs at the Global Green Growth Week. His contributions to Indonesia's sustainable development and environmental policy are significant and impactful.
