ADB Study on Industry 4.0 in Southeast Asia: Webinar by ADB and SkillsFuture Singapore 21 May 2021 Online, 1:30-3:00 p.m., Manila time This webinar presented and discussed detailed insights from the ADB study Reaping the Benefits of Industry 4.0 Through Skills Development in High-Growth Industries in Southeast Asia, based on surveys of employers and training institutions in four countries – Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. The study recommends the renewal of skills development strategies with a life cycle approach to skills development. Leading experts shared insights and views on practical actions that ADB’s developing member countries can take to reap the benefits of 4IR for their industries and to improve job prospects. Objective To propose action points that ADB DMCs, can use to harness the potential of 4IR to increase productivity, facilitate skills development, and incentivize industry. The recommendations from the study point to the need to implement decisive changes in renewing skills development strategies that acquire a full life cycle approach to skills development.
