ADB Data Room: Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health The rising burden of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health disorders presents a substantial and pressing public health challenge in countries in Asia and the Pacific. This has a far-reaching impact on socioeconomic development and poses a formidable challenge to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and achieving universal health coverage. Addressing this challenge requires an integrated approach that strengthens primary health care systems to effectively prevent and manage both NCDs and mental health conditions.
