Kalipso Chalkidou

Dr. Kalipso Chalkidou is the Director of Health Financing and Economics at the World Health Organization (WHO), where she leads global efforts to optimize the use of public funds for health and improve financial protection and service delivery. With a background in medicine and health policy, she has extensive experience in evidence-based decision-making, health technology assessment, and priority setting. Prior to joining WHO, Dr. Chalkidou held senior roles at the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the Center for Global Development, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She is a recognized thought leader in global health financing, championing equitable, data-driven policies to strengthen health systems and ensure value for money in healthcare investments.
