Fernando Reimers is the Ford Foundation Professor of International Education and Director of the Global Education Innovation Initiative at Harvard University. An elected member of both the US National Academy of Education and the International Academy of Education, he is a leading authority in Global Education. His research centers on preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century and has influenced education policy and practice worldwide. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Reimers led studies to explore the educational impact and strategies for recovery.
He has created curriculum aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, and his graduate courses at Harvard employ innovative methods to tackle pressing educational issues. Author or editor of 50 academic books, Reimers focuses on education policy, leadership, and teacher development. He also serves on multiple advisory boards at Harvard, aiming to advance its global mission and address climate change. Reimers has been on the Harvard faculty since 1998 and has prior experience with the Universidad Central de Venezuela, the Harvard Institute for International Development, and the World Bank.
