1st Regional Knowledge-Sharing Workshop: Strengthening the Environment Dimensions of the SDGs in Asia and the Pacific

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) intentionally place a greater emphasis on environmental issues than the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). However, whether that attention translates into meaningful action depends on how effectively policymakers integrate the environmental dimensions of the SDGs into development policies, plans, and programs.

UNEP & Integrated Urban Systems Approach

This presentation discussed the new public-private partnership on Urban System Integration which seeks to support cities in developing integrated approaches to infrastructure planning and cross-sectoral policies and identifying key enabling technologies that will facilitate connections and interactions across the building, energy, transportation, wastewater treatment, and waste management sectors. It also discussed the wider systems integration in district energy, use of waste heat and large scale resources, improving city-wide energy efficiency, and district cooling.

Air Pollution in Asia and the Pacific: Implementing 25 Solutions to Help 1 Billion People Breathe Cleaner Air by 2030 (English)

This presentation gave an overview the top 25 measures that could significantly improve air quality and public health by the year 2030. It further underscored that the implementation of these measures requires more knowledge of what enables success in particular sectors and contexts, governance arrangements that facilitate coordination across different government agencies and non-state actors.
