Promoting Climate Technology R&D and Private Participation

This presentation gave an overview of the Republic of Korea's national target for GHG reduction, as well as its national research and development budget for its climate change initiatives in 2018. It also showcased how the government facilitated private sector participation, and provided suggestions on how to create an enabling environment for the private sector to create and expand industries and investment in climate technology.

In this presentation, ADB's Woochong Um highlighted ADB's commitment to reduce the bank's carbon emissions from its operations. In particular, he highlighted that ADB procured certified emission reductions (CERs) from the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project registered by the UNFCCC to offset the estimated carbon emissions from participant-related travel for the Forum.

The need to find more sustainable options to power demand for personal mobility is greater than ever, and the automotive industry is currently undergoing a big transformation. In this presentation, Mr. Atsushi Najima discussed how electrified mobility can help tackle the continuing challenges of air quality and noise pollution. He also elaborated on the Nissan Intelligent Mobility as a reflection the company's approach in designing and building vehicles, providing the vision to meet the changing demand of customers.​
