Panel Presentation 3: The Nature of Urbanization: Implications of Urbanization Patterns and Policy Options & Reforms for Fostering Growth and Inclusion

This presentation discussed the nature of urbanization in Asia and the implications of urbanization patterns for cities role as engines of growth & job creation. It also outlined a number of policy options and reforms needed to foster inclusive growth.

Aisa Tobing

Ms. Tobing is a City Planner and Senior Advisor to the Governor at the Jakarta Research Council since 2013. She has been appointed as the Chairman of the Climate Change Task Force for Jakarta and serves as Special Staff for Urban and Environmental Management particularly focused on low carbon city programs. Since 2007, she has been involved and active in several international network and organizations, such CityNet in Asia Pacific and C40 Climate Leadership Group.

Daizong Liu

Daizong Liu is China Sustainable Cities Program Director and China Transport Program Director of the World Resources Institute (WRI). He has led and managed a number of projects, including the Transit Metropolis project partnered with the Ministry of Transport, and local governments like Kunming, Guiyang, Suzhou and Zhuzhou, Low Emission Zone/Congestion Charging project with Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, Road Safety project with China Academy of Urban Planning & Design, and Sustainable and Livable Cities project with Chengdu and Qingdao Development and Reform Commission.

Panya Boonsirithum

My life journey has exposed me to different fields of work from fashion, farming to real estate. This diversity of experiences has showed me great social insights and taught me to be innovative and think out of the box in dealing with complexities. One of the last projects that I was part of, CITIHUB https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0WC0pTMVFs was our company's CSR. The projects mission was to provide dignified housing for the working class Filipinos.
